Tis the Season!! I love the Holidays

OK, I work in retail and if any one know that you can buy anything it is I. But Can you make something for a loved one or friend?

Try this super simple mitten mini album. you cut 4 to 6 sets of mittens making sure you flip one so they are a pair. You then cut 4 to 6 mittens from a white heavy card stock ( I used basic 100 lb card stock from walmart in the printer paper area).

With a good quick grabbing glue or tape runner, mind you it must stick well or they will fall a part. glue the printed mittens to the white mitten one to each side. hold them or place them under a book until they dry. Then using your crop-a-Dile punch a hole in the top of the mittens and add a book ring to secure. Now decorate add photos and give your gift to it's recipient.

Here is the pattern I re-sized it to 4 3/4" tall

Wow it is still Friday....

I have been working more on my ledger/Mini Album. This is the cover so far waiting for the book board to dry completely... I can't wait to finish it and decorate it.

I cut and scored the book board and adhered the cover on the book board last night.

1. trace the cover on the book board, chip board. Trim to fit. then lay the cover on he book board and mark out where the binding will go. Then score several times from top to bottom to allow the book board to bend freely.

once the book board bens as you want it to do. Flip it over and adhere a wide piece of twill tape to the book board so the scored area does not break and separate this will allow years of viewing with out damage. after you adhere the twill tape make sure you close the book before the glue dries, to make sure all is lined up and the book will close properly. allow to dry in the closed position.

while you cover dries work on folding your pages and trimming them to fit your book.

I hope you try this with me... I am loving my new project so far.

Hello, Happy Friday!!

I have decided to try to be a good blogger.... OK I promise to try.

I have started a Facebook group Called Em's Scrap Goodies Swaps. We trade everything form ATC's to scrapling and I am even hosting a altered puzzle piece trade. If you would like to join the group please contact me Emma Hicks on Face book.

Right now I am making a book from a free download From a Blog called Altered Artifacts you should check out her work it is awesome. I am using her journal cover sized it and printed on a good quality Linen card stock. I then put a good thick coat of decoupage on it to make it water proof and more pliable.

I then sized and printed out my ledger pages and decoupaged them to the burlap using a heavy amount of decoupage making sure to wet all corners and edges very good. Trim burlap/material after you adhere the paper down to make it easier. Keep in mind I used basic 20 lb copy paper for the ledger pages so I could easily fold the pages after they dried. After the burlap was almost completely dry I decoupaged the ledger paper to give it the shiny surface. this will also guarantee your album will last a good long time.

That is the end of part one.. I will add more pictures after I get the Muslin so I can make the other pages.

I will also show you how to sew this book together and bind it. The rest of this tutorial will come as soon as I can get to the city... weather permitting.

I am sorry I have not posted in so long it has been a long haul for me. I have had my right knee totally replaced and have been healing and doing intense therapy so I can get back to work. I have done one small project lately an ATC swap but I have done nothing for the store sorry to say.. Hopefully I can get back at it soon.

I have been go go go.. with work, family, and life I am not sure where the time goes but I am making time to advertise some more Mini Album classes.. I have been emailing a gal here where I live. I met her on Face book, she runs a small entity called Silver Valley Craft Class. I may be teaching a class for her on mini albums. She asked for some pictures to share on her blog and of course being the spaz I am sent her like 20 photo bucket links so she can choose what she wants to put on her blog. I also offered to do a monthly tip/tutorial for her blog on scrapbooking/paper crafting...I am not sure what will happen but non the less I am so excited. I will keep everyone abreast of what happens.

Ok I told you about my new found Stamp Fetish...

Now I have something to show off. I love ATC's and host many trades through out the year. I also look for and join trades. Well my last two trades from other other hosts have been so much fun. I use two of my new stamps that I bought from Queen Kat Designs. They are both from the Feb stamp set.

My first ATC "Even Trash can play Nicely" has the France stamp from Queen Kat Designs. It also has a ton of reclaimed stuff on it from the paper I stamped the France design to the backing made from packing materials I bring home from work. I have to admit everything on this ATC has been destine for the trash at one point but I boldly spoke up and said wow can I have that as they cleaned and restocked the art department of a past employer I acquired the mini pearls the trim, The bow is a scrap from a fall layout, the Guardian Angle was saved from the trash as a friend was cleaning...she said it is a dollar store trinket so in my little box of stuff it went. The mesh is ribbon I bought at Wal-Mart after christmas at 90% off add a little ink and wow it is a nice find. The flowers were a hostess gift from an ATC trade and the backing is packing material from where I work..I saved it from the compactor... all this said this is my ATC!!

My second ATC was done for Smeared and Smudged Feb vintage ATC Trade. Again it has one of the Stamps from Queen Kat Designs Feb Stamp set on it. I love the Artsy feel of this ATC.

My other adventures took me to Portland Oregon for my grand sons second surgery.
He is taken care of by the Shriner s and I have to admit they are the most giving caring group I have ever know. The hospital sit way up on a hill over looking the river. So the views are awesome. I will show off this is a second but first my grandson Shayden.

We left Post Fall Idaho and flew to Portland where shayden had surgery...

When you get into the lobby you are walking into the biggest playroom you could imagine with some thing for all ages, they even have people who play with the kids...

The rest of the day and night was spent getting ready for the surgery the next day it was busy!!

The following morning they took Shayden in for the first surgery to realign the muscles on the roof of his mouth. We got a call a few hours later that he was in recovery so we headed down to see him and jamie got to hold him and rock him to help him relax.

The hours after surgery were full of rest and keeping him calm...cause is throat hurt...

that night he was cleared for clear liquids so they brought him some chicken broth and Shayden was not having it he kept demanding he wanted something else.

He was very upset so to distract him from his demands for solid food they brought in the big wagon and we went for a ride thru the halls.

This helped a little...Poor little guy had no Idea he was not going to get to eat solid food for at least a month after surgery... but he is doing good and healing quite well...his speech has improved so much that with some speech therapy he will be understood when he starts school.

Me I was getting quite grouchy from lack of sleep by the second day that I took a walk and had my camera so I will share some of the sights I enjoyed.

First is a patio garden across the street from the Shriners...I love this little place it is so calm and you can watch the tram coming and going with it passengers with out interaction from others.

When it is wet it looks so cool...

Then there is a cool statue of a rabbit carrying a dog it is an awesome show of true compassion.

Next are the two fountains that give the area a serene restful sound to soften the city noise.

Last tucked in the back is a statue of a mother and child

along with the flowers and shrubs

this garden is very inviting and peaceful...kinda my little piece of heaven when we go to the hospital with Shayden...

Last I want to share that when I go with Shayden I get a bed on the 7th floor in the guest suites. the view is awesome city as far as you can see and the river below

I love going to Portland it is always an adventure, especially if you live in Hooter Ville as my husband says...LOL!!

I am jumping in again!!

Ok I am going to get the mojo flowing through my scrappy veins. I have jump in feet first and ordered the February 2010 "Get Inked Kit" from Queen Kat Designs Stamp Company. I am so jazzed about this after a two month over load of making a baby book with no direction just a lot of expectations I was going to take a break and just shut the door....But you know me I can't live with out ink. Let alone the smell of all the glues I so fondly collect, the dot, sticks, bottles and yes runners...I would loose my mind. Then there is the embossing gun I can't relax with out the hum of it's tiny motor. last but not least what is the use of owning a black bath rob if I can cover it with paper lint from sanding....So you see I can't close the door..I am addicted!

So to celebrate this new revelation I placed my order tonight with Miss Vicki of The Queen of Queen Kat Designs and she is sending me this kit!!

Time Flys

It has been a long time since I have made time to blog. I seem to have fallen into the work 5 days a week, to tired mode. I need to learn how to be a good blogger and scrapper after dark. Since I went to work on the over night crew at the local Wal-mart I feel off the face of the earth. I am working on balancing my time so I can be awake more during the day time hours so I can snap some photos.

Busy Little blogger...

Yep, that's me. I have been working extra hours and saving some money I am working on a cool project and I can't wait to let the cat out of the bag. but for now know that my lack of blogging is leading to big dreams and some fun.

I have been scrapping since I was last on my blog. I have made a new mini album similar to the last one I posted. which is waiting for pictures so I can send them out before Christmas. I am also in the preliminary phase of a baby album which I will make from the album to all the page layouts.

I recently discovered heat embossing, I know of it I just had not taken the leap and now I learned that my cutting machine will cut clear stamps... I am all over the experimenting and my room looks like a bomb went off.

But that did not stop me from makeing 30 atc's, 1 mini album, 6 layouts and a card. The card and mini album I will post here for you all to see.

This album is made from cardboard covered with paper and bound with the Bind-It-All

I should have titled this "your 1 in a million" instead I put have a good day inside.

Bad Blogger...That be me

I have been MIA for a few days...

I just have had a serious of events that have take my time and used it all up

#1 is my ever changing schedule at work...I have been so tired from split days off.

#2 I fell and hurt my knee, shin and foot. Which is healing nicely but still sore and in need of being up when I am not working to help the swelling go down.

#3 Working on mini albums with what is left of my time. Yep that's right Mini album, Christmas is just around the corner and I need to have three beautiful albums done for for family (i.e. My mom, my mother-in-law and my step mother in Law) Shh don't tell it is a secret.

I would show off my bruises but since the front of my leg is to sore to shave you will have to take my word for it.

I stayed up all night working on my last mini for the Zutter DT Call. I have to admit the first two I made in the last 4 months. So I felt bad and decidede to make a new album cook book just for the the contest. BUT...I can't show it to you yet. I have to submit it first. I will give you a hint think red and white gingham...it has a shadowbox window on the front (about 10 pages of card stock and one light weight chipboard... I have to say my BIA was not happy.. but it did the job. I promise I will show off my finished project soon, but the Zutter Team gets first peak.

Wow!! Zutter has Posted a Call for DT's

I am so going to try...This could be the event of a life time for me I am such a mini album make'n fool. I have to pull out some of my blank albums and decide what to make with it to submit. I make so many albums I never have enough pictures to fill them LOL!! so I give them away. Now I have to make a second album for me this month cause I am not letting this opportunity pass by. Stay tuned I will be playing with some Ideas and I will share any thing that pans out to be creatively interesting.

I am thinking of making a cover for my recipe cards that I trade...I have piles of them and have not put them in an album yet.

Working on my third project

As you have heard, if you have been on my board as of late there is an awesome contest at My Creative Scrapbooking It is the 7th year the site has been in business selling awesome Kit of the Months. They are giving away hundreds of dollars in prizes, so I have pulled out all the stops and I am makeing an item for each category. This week I am working on a mini album. Since I have been strapped for cash I brought home some cardboard (heavy duty chipboard style) from work since I throw freight at Wal-Mart There is no shortage of card board n my life. I then pulled out the Bind-IT-All some Kaiser paper and all the cool embellishments I could find in my room.... what a mess that made and to be honest I didn't use anything I pulled out so the pile grew. So 5 hours later I have the beginning of a new journey... My mini album.

What a fun Few Days

I went to my Daughters Graduation from Beauty school.. Then was dropped off to window shop at Micheal's. I am always happy to go to look at scrappy supplies, but I was in a dress and new heals...owe they hurt my toes. My Loving DH the offender in this tale gave me $10:00 to look for a close out 6x6 album since the sign on the door said "Huge clearance Sale" needless to say the sign had probably been hanging for a few weeks there was nothing to speak of on the clearance isle. So I started to browse the 1.00 bins and found some studio G stamps. I remember my DH saying "I will be back in about 20 min so hurry so we can get some lunch and get back to the valley I have a meeting this after noon". Ok it 10:30 am this is all do-able it is a 45 minute drive home so if we eat fast we will not have to rearrange his schedule. So I hurry and look thur the dollar stamps and find my name in the letter bin and a few rubber Studio G's with some cute sayings and of course some mini cupcakes. I got to the register to pay knowing my DH should be back anytime. Go out front and wait. Hmmm no DH, I begin to look thur the sales bins out front 30 min later no DH and my toes hurt. OK it is getting hot I go back in look at some new vintage embellishments and some cool over lays but know I ave no money. I go back outside no DH... wow it's 11:30 my feet really hurt. Really wishing I had grabbed my purse...I go back inside..I call his cell and leave a message "I am really getting board and my feet hurt, Where are you". No answer..I ask the gal at the front counter if I can sit in the class room she says yes. my daughter texts me where's Dad I don't know he said he had a meeting and would be right back... so she calls no answer. Ok after more pacing and sore feet I start to get mad and leave him a voice mail that say "hey where are you it has been two hours and my feet hurt I am very hungry". Very mad but in need of some food I walk over to the Wendy's out front of the store and buy a burger and small pop off the dollar menu, and boy howdy and I beyond mad. I sit down to eat and my cell rings.
"where are you" the voice on the other end asks.
"I am at Wendy's" I say.
"Oh Good grab me a burger I am starved" he says.
"I have no money" I reply.
"Oh...Ok I will be right in"
My dh walk's in and goes to the counter gets some food, walks to the table and say "lets go I have a meeting in an hour you can drive while I eat".
Beyond mad I just look at him with a smile and say "either eat that here or eat when we get home my feet hurt and my is spinning (I am hypoglycemic) from low sugar".
He sits down and asks "are you mad"
I reply "yes"
"why" he asks "I thought you liked to shop"
I breath and say "Remember when I was going to bring a change of clothes so I could wear my tennis shoes and you said don't be silly we are not going to be in the city that long..so I left them at home, and then when I wanted to get my purse from the back seat of the truck and you said I am only going to be gone 20 minute handed me a 10 and hurry so we can get home".
He just gave me the deer in the head light look.
Well honey I said with a smile "number 1. my feet hurt so bad I would like to take them off and throw them at you and number 2. I would like to send you to a tool sale with 10 dollars and forget about you for 2.5 hours... how would you feel"? I think he got it then.

But something pretty did come of our trip to the city. I Did this Lay out as the first page of my daughter Graduation album.

This is the begining of her life as a responsible adult trained to make her way. I wish her luck and wanted to share this with you all.

The flower is a clock clip art I printed off the internet, I covered it with crackles accents which will make it run a bit and give it a washed out look (which I like). I then put the charm in the center and the broken earing bling at the 12:00 position. it was perfect with the Once upon a time stamp I used. I love the ranger crackle and glossy accents. If you have not tried them I would recommend them.

I did forgive her dad after he bought me my new freezer..LOL!!

I just knew it had to be close to noon.... but the clock on the computer does not lie... My day is surely dragging out. I am glad for that, but it just mean I have so much more I can get done. I plan to can some beets... Mmmm for me. then work on a book mark challenge and post my new challenge at Scrapbooking and Crafting Friends I have been hosting ATC Swaps and Co Hosting the Tremendous Tuesday Challenges. When I am not monitoring this board i am off to AC Bailey Forum a company I was a consultant/DT for now I just hang out and lurk on the board. I did get a surprise when they pick my Layout of my grandson and his BFF as the layout of the week. I love the store at AC Bailey she always has something new and something on sale, who does not like a good deal. . Check it out.

The Adornit Blog Hop, Welcome Back

I hope you are having fun at the Blog hop, what a great group of ladies!!

I am so excited to show off my project.

OK... lets have some fun I am going to show you haw to take a chip board boarder and make it a fun journaling embellishment for your layout.

you will need a chip board border, acrylic paint or ink a dauber, Dimensional Pearls, glue dots glue or a mini tape runner, optional files and a tool for pushing out the small cuts on the chip board. . I like to use metallic paint for this. plan you page and then chose the colors you want to use. Here I use metallic green with gold flakes, tomato red mocha brown acrylic paint and Adirondack Dimensional pearls. Have a small paint brush and some water available for touch ups. You will want a mat of some sort under your project. I work on a 12 x 12 mat but I also have a 36 x 24 piece of poster board to the side of my mat. I keep my mat clean, it is just a flat surface that I can move when inking or painting.

Start with punching out the frame being careful not to damage it. I use the Cricut dental looking tool to help poke out the small areas.

I then use a dauber to apply my paint I apply small dot and let then soak in you can tap it in if you need to work faster... daub the dauber on your paper to the side of your mat once or twice to help spread the paint,

I then daub the paint on the chip board, do not rub. The daubing will give you a blochy uneven surface. This is great for colored chip board. You can always paint or ink your chip board first,let it dry then daub or daub while wet this is a cool effect.

using the same dauber continue to add colors to color the detailworking from the darkest to the lightest, here I added the tomato red to the dauber and daubed the flowers lightly, then added the mocha brown daubed lightly. I finished by adding a small amount of the metallic paint to give the flower a shine.

put the frame off to the side to dry.

Now decide what paper you want to use for your journaling, I tend to use a lighter patterned paper that goes well with my layout. If it is a scrap of paper from what you have been working with tape (with double sided tape) the scrap to a sheet of printer paper making sure to tape the top edge down so it does not jam in the printer.

Now using your word processor program type the sentiment you want, have fun with this play with the font and font size, but stay with in the boundaries of the chip board frame. print the first draft on plain paper first and check that the words all fit nicely with in the chip board frame make any adjustments needed. when you are happy with the layout, Print the sentiment on your chosen paper. A hint don't print in black unless you have to choose a color on the paper and use a very dark tint of that color, here I used the brown opened my palette and choose a shade a few colors from the darkest. This will soften the look a bit.

Once printed lay your chip board frame on the paper line up the sentiment and trace the outer boarder. Cut to size.

Ink the edge well so the cut lines do not show white under you frame.

add adhesive to the boarder

Line up your paper and frame push to make a good adhesion, and you are ready to use the embellishment on your project.

Some of my friends are at the CHA show and they get to watch inking by Tim Holtz, My hero in the art world! Yep they even told him I was at home waiting to here news of his demo. I even asked one of them to grab the ink and run, but she told him.

My day has been a hurry and wait ordeal... it started with

"Good Morning Dee!! and all the ladie who are there...are you haveing fun yet??? did you see Tim Holtz??? IF you do please tell him Auntie Em Loves him He is my hero in the scrap world."

If you read my blog about my absolute awesome purchase from Cosmo Cricket then you will know where I got this paper. It is their Fleuriste line. I also used some prime Flowers, skittles, say it in crystals flourish and some Bazzill brads. My daughters Senior pictures were so awesome the gal who took them gave us the cd's and I have all 200 pictures she took soI will scrap an album of my favorites.

Check these out Ball Canning jar has made these awesome squaty big mouth jars that not only look cool but you can actually reach in and get what you want. Talk about save time on clean up...I seen them at the local Wal-Mart and wanted them but put off buying them because now I need to come up with a way to store them since they do not stack well...

But they look cool and like I said I can just reach in and grab what I want.

ATC's Every where!!

Oh boy I love making ATC's so instead of waiting to find a swap I just started to host swaps and I am loving it. I do still participate in other peoples swaps like the Patriotic Swap I did last month with a gal I consider my friend Lucinda. I met her on the All Moments Remembered forum. Here are the ATC's I recieved from her swap.. bet you don't know which is mine...

and speaking of Patriotic I just did this layout for a challenge. Pick a word and scrap what it means to you the, since the fourth just pasted it has to be red, white and blue if you live in America and if you live in Cananda it has to be done in thier colors becaues Cananda Day just passed. Here is my American example. It is simple but makes a big statement to me.

Back to ATC's I just swapped out and am on my wail to mail my last ATC swaps... they were awesome... and agin bet you can't guess which was mine... :)

Let it Rain!!

It has been very rainy here... After a beautiful 88 degree 4th the heavens opened and let the thunder and torrents of water made it way to the ground, and boy howdy it was an awesome site... When it was all over with everything was so cleans and it smelled so good. As I was standing on my front porch I seen the hint of a rainbow Starting just across the street from my place. Since I have camera in hand trying to catch the rain event I started to shot the rain bow... These are the photos I caught.

I love this sign it just out my window.

Here you can still see the sheet of water pouring down as oit moved passed us... and the beginning of the rain bow

More rain bow. I could of reached out and touched this it was so awesome to be this close to one.

and last but not least as the rain bow climbed the mountain I caught one last glimpse of it.

That was a sweet storm, it was very dramatic but short lived.

What A Happy Scrapy Day!!

With everything going on these days in my life happy scrappy mail days have be very few and far between.. but that is ok I have resigned that I would take this time and clean my scrap room and organize. Which even I have to admit my room was sooo out of control it was not a fun place to be. I keep getting emails of all the sales and from the KOTM clubs I want to join, but I have had to even put that on hold. So I guess you can say I'm on the "Economy Crunch Scrapy Diet" and to a scrap addict it is worse than taking away our oxygen. I received an email about a month ago that the Miss paper Jane was having a sale on a few specific items.I don't know how many times I went to thier site and worked out in my head just what I would buy. Well last week I finally ordered and guess what THEY ARRIVED TODAY!!!! I recieved 18 sheets two sided card stock, 2 packs black Board (chipboard) punch outs, 2 sheets buck naked chipboard punch outs, 4 sheets of alpha punch outs, 2 double sided sheets of journaling cards, 2 packs of ribbon and 1 sticker sheet all for $15.97 + shipping.. Now that's a steal concidering that it is all from Cosmos Cricuts Fleuriste line except the buck naked chip board. Granted this paper line is so two seasons ago, but who cares it is still so awesome... I am glad I ordered. Because it fits mt scrapy style. So Organizing aside I am caressing my new treasures...

Oh ya, I won a prize from My Creative Scrapbooking, two weeks ago she posted a challenge and I won 7 blings and they came in today also. So it was a double Scrapy mail day.. If I ever get back on my feet from all this economic stuff I am going to sign up for her Limited Kit of the Month

Two layers of paper at a minimum. If you use thin paper, please back it with something like heavy cardstock, chipboard, grungeboard, acrylic, etc.

Theme is Roses. They do not have to be identical but they do need to be similar in style.

These swaps should arrive at my house no later than June 30th - to be swapped out within 7 days. Sorry, but I no longer wait for late arrivals. Please be sure to communicate. You may use my email: auntieem@suddenlink.net if you prefer rather than pm's

Other basics for swaps apply: If you want me to re-use your packaging, please indicate so on the outside of the envelope/box. Be sure to include either a return label (or envelope). Also include the same amount of postage it took to mail to me (NO DATED, METERED STRIPS), as well as two additional stamps which will be returned if they are not used. I need to limit the trades to the US and Canada at this time.

Ship items in; at a minimum, a plastic bag inside your swap envelope. I always appreciate it if each item is individually bagged with at least your screen name, especially when items are not 100% flat (sometimes things move and catch in an envelope - individual bags or some manner of securing items helps prevent damage).

Last thing: always do your best work. There are many skill levels out there, that is fine, but if you wouldn't be happy to include what you sent in an album or on a card, others probably won't either.

Terrific Tuesday!!

Wow, I got a lot of scrap'n done the last 24 hours, been enjoying my day off and finishing some projects. The first Layout I did last night for a contest on The My Creative Scrapbook Forum. they are having a weekly contest to kick off the July Festivities. this week the prize is 7 packs of bling to help celibrate the 7 years the company has been in business.

This is a layout of my grandson and his best friend. The challenge was use your chip board on the layout. So I did.

The Next layout is of my two daughters. I never realized how much they looked like each other until I laided they photos next to each other. They are three years apart but they look like they could of been twins.

This Layout was done using the May KOTM from a company I used to be a DT and Consultant for, it was the last kit I bought before the new DT and consultant rules took effect. The kit was so me that I bought two. I will be making more from these Kits but for now I wanted to share this with you all.

A bit of Lime Ricky, Family and a challenge.

Before I left the design team At AC Bailey I received a packet of lime Ricky paper and some embellishments. I ended up just paying for the product not knowing if I had what it takes to work with such loud paper. I am not a real bright happy color scrapper so this was a challenge. But I finally got it done. Talk out pushing yourself... I came up with three layouts.

Having a three year old grand son living with us helped with this project. LOL!!

Next is a challenge on the "My Creative Scrapbook" forum.

and last but not least my current challenge Lo for the My Creative Scrapbook site.

I journaled under the picture of the shed, I hinged it with a piece of Bazzill and it is held up with a foot shaped paper clip.

Now that was a scrappy week for me!! and yes it was fun.

I helped demo the Cricut and the scrap supplies that we sell at WalMart. I had a blast I spent 4 hours with Sandy, Mary and myself playing with paper and helping customers make mini albums. Check out some of the Pictures.

I had to work that night so I went home napped of course and when I drove back the sky was so pretty.

and of course after my shift I had to leave and the sky again was so awesome it was a crisp morning which just makes the colors pop... I had my camera on the landscape mode and slowed it down. I they clarified the picture as it brought out the colors.

With al that said I have two sneak peaks for my Esty shop which I will stock and open on the 15th.

Wow it got warm fast in North Idaho... it went from cold day and freezing nights to summer in the blink of the eye. Well that may be exaggerating a bit but that's how it feels. Any way the last three weeks we have seen the transformation to summer starting with the Jon Quils in my back yard

to the Lilacs thats are in full bloom

and yes the cherry blossums

Next will be my Iris's and then the day lily's I am so happy to see this transformation I had to share it with you. Have a great day!!

The last Day of May

I am happy to know it is getting warmer, but sad to see the short spring season of North Idaho, fading in to summer. My lilacs are all in full bloom and my garden is growing. Matter of fact I actually got to thin the radishes and had some tasty little treats to take to work with me last night, Mmmm they were so good.

With all the changes happening this is also the day my Design Team position ended at AC Bailey. I loved being on the team, but I am now looking forward to being on my own team creating what I feel is my talent, something from nothing. I love to find little treasures, like pieces of card board that would make a nice album or even light duty chip style card board to make embellishments. I think the thrill of the hunt is who I am. Even though AC Bailey was very generous to their Design Team, I still felt the need to create in my style. This took away from the excitement and since of who I was artistically. I do wish AC Bailey's Design Team nothing but success, and the company great new beginnings and success, and yes I will still shop at AC Bailey because Erica the owner has worked so hard to build an awesome company. Good Luck Design Team!!

But now I move on to my style yet again... and I have been piling up my treasures to creat the next few days off... So check back soon... I am feeling a scrap attack coming on.

My next post will have something cool to share.. will it be a layout, a new style album or a few gift box's I am not sure but It begins when I get off work tomorrow morning. I am going to start making the items for my Esty store. This is going to be a blast.

Why do the days go faster as we age. Well that makes two of us or more :) I was sitting on my back porch watching the sun set and light up the may clouds and the planes leaving their vapor trail in the sky wondering this very question. I came to no great revelation about this topic so instead I grabbed my camera and decided to save this very moment in time forever. my view to the West

What a wonderful view, I love the spring sunsets here in Idaho some of them can just be a sight.

The weekend started off with a camping trip. It was Shayden, his Grandpa, Aunt Kattie and his shadow Jobe. His mom and I had to work which was ok since we are not big on outdoor adventures.

It all started with getting to the property up the hill, well up the drive in is just off a BLM road about 1/2 mile from our house, a two acher dream we are still dreaming to put our dream house there some day a timber framed home for us. Ok back to the story as you can see grandpa had to help shaden get his 4 wheeler up the hill it proved to be a challenge.

Then Shayden had to find some weapons to keep the big animals away(this is blurry but I ad to share.)

Then they braved the tent, of course Shayden stood guard, didn't want any big animals to suprise them.

Then it was time to pose on the 4 wheeler... LOL

Now that the fun was over it was time to collect some wood so Aunt Kattie could start a camp fire. Every one must help...

Hmmm where is our brave guard dog.... Oh look he is hiding in the truck.

Now that dinner is done it is time to make the Smores... it is Shayden's turn to cook... Stoke the fire Aunt Kattie

All of a sudden Shayden's eye went to the drive and what did he spy but his crush Andie he really wants to take her to get a happy meal...LOL he is in love

Now we sleep and the next morning we wake to aunt Kattie cooking Dog food burritos (roast beef hash and eggs) Mmmm

and now we get to go home but not with out tears...The next morning bright and early grandma came home and hung the flag on the porch to show respect for all those who gave their lives to allowed us to be free and live good lives here in America. Shayden may be to young to get the full meaning but we will teach him.

as grandma slept Grandpa finished building the door to the shed we were building last fall..

Then when grandma got up we checked out gardens.... Mmm Radishes are almost ready

Changes Coming

Wow it is hard to believe it is May 14th, But that means I must keep up with all that is going on at this time in my life. As my Dailey routine changes so will my blog reflect where I am headed. I have found buy the help of a friend some new places to learn as well as share and net work Ideas. I have joined and will add the link to my blog I will also be promoting my endeavor such as class's taechniques and love for paper crafting. I am working on an Esty store which I will sell my origanial works... To date I have been on a Design team for a growing company who has taken a huge leap this year. They are becoming one of those companies that will need more structure than I can give so I gracefully resigned from what I call the dream Team or Design Team and am off to follown my own dreams. I wish AC Bailey all the best and will still visit because my old dream team players are there, they really helped me come out of my shell. So Connie, Dee, Becky, Leah, Ginn, Elisabeth and Jess I will miss playing in your sand box, but I hope you will come see my new back yard when you have time. Love you all.

Ok on to me I am working on weekily classes for a gal who owns a huge antique toy shop in town she has limited scrapbooking supplies, so Erica at AC Bailey has allowed me to stay on as a hobbyest so I can get the supplies I need until I get some accounts set up. I Have been doing so serious thinking about asking the gal with the shop if I could start to carry some supplies in her shop to help me raise the funds to open a B&M of my own that is one of my dreams... Her shop is so big she may even rent me a space....But I have to ask first. OK I need to get back to the basics.

I will post my classes here for the month they will be in printable form you can do a monthly payment or per class... I will have more details soon...

I have so much going on at this time my life seems to be going off in directions I did not imagine last year this time, but I am embracing the change. My Up-Cycled Box's and Mini Albums are becoming a full time hobby, I was making them as gifts for friends and now their friends want one and so on... So I am going to make this a fun way to support some my scrap addition... I will be opening a small Esty store to start and then go from there as I see what will work for me. Below is one of the box's I was asked to make for Mothers Day.

I really like these box's they are fun and a good way to re-use an item that is not at the end of it's life.

I will share more with you as the month goes on, The changes will be all month long and when I land I will be taking a new path in the scrapbooking world.

Drum roll please....

Ok a small moment of comment first. I am glad you all enjoyed the butterflies... I believe everyone of you can do this it is so simple...I also made Pansies one of my favorite flowers. again I just out lined the flower shape on Craft Plastic with the Ranger Dimensional Pearls then place a second piece of Craft Plastic on top smooth using very little pressure, The separate carefully by lifting one corner the pulling them apart quickly (do not smear). You Then cut the two top smaller petals out. Then cut the middle out as a crazy shaped figure 8. Then the large lower pedal. Add a good sized drop of Gold and smear in in a downward motion to create short lines, Then trace the out side with a very thin line of the Ranger Dimensional Pearls to add contrast to the pedals. then glue together using a glue like zip dry or glossy accents. ...Here is a my pansies one cut out and a finished one. Hope you enjoy and try this technique.

Hello and Welcome to The NSD AC Bailey Blog Hop. I hope you are having fun meeting each of use and learning new techniques.

My Name is Emma Hicks. I have been a Design Team Member at AC Bailey for 6 months. I have to say I love AC Bailey and it's products. The owner Erica dose everything she can to keep all the most current product in the store. The shipping time is amazing and Customer service is out of this world. I joined as a consultant just about a year ago and I am happy I choose AC Bailey. They carry all my Favorite tools and supplies From the Bazzill card stock to the Glue Glider Pro and refills. My most favorite to date is the Ranger Dimensional Pearls below you will see some ways I like to use the product. I am a scrapbooker at heart but I also have an artist's soul I love to experiment and make beautiful things. Any thing with pigment in it makes me happy.

After you read each blog and check out the techniques they offer (please leave a comment on each blog). I would like to share some fun I have been having with the Ranger Dimensional Pearls and Craft Plastic.

Draw the out line of a butterfly using the Ranger Dimensional Pearls on a piece of Craft Plastic. Then lay a second piece on top softly pat down so the paint smears a bit the separate the two sheets buy lifting one corner the pull apart quickly with out smearing. lay both face up to dry.

After they dry thoroughly about an hour or two cut out the first side of your wings then lay the first set on the on the dried paint line up the lines made by pulling the apart and trace the first set.

Follow the tracing and cut your second set. Trim to desired shape.

now place a thick line of Ranger Dimensional Pearls where you would like the butterfly push wings into either side of the line and hold for about 30 seconds to a minute. I then use some folded paper to hold the wings so they do not lose the height I want.

You can also use the Ranger Dimensional Pearls to make over lays, boarders and titles on your layouts. This products is so much fun I can't seem to stop doodling with it. here is some more fun I have had playing with the Ranger Dimensional Pearls.

I do allow these to dry over night then I trim them as close as possible. You can doodle directly on you LO but I like to doodle on the Craft Plastic so I can position it where I want when I am ready.

I joined twitter... And some Blog candy On the Same day

Since every name I tried on Twitter was taken...I have a new name you can look for me as Upcycle_this. I love the new name and since I do so much Up-Cycling, now that I know it has a name Thanks to Jingle from AMR forum. I will promote what I have been doing for years.

I have never been poor but there are times I had just enough and needed something to brighten up a wall, cheer up a friend or just was in need of a craft fix. That when I found out that second hand stores, not to be confused with consignment stores...I mean the get in there and gig through piles of lets say stuff to find a treasure kind of store could feed my desires to be crafty, and it fit well in my non existent budget. I have through the years acquired a crafty budget and taken the dumpster diving to a whole new level (ok I admit I have never been in a dumpster only because I was afriad I would get stuck in one). But I still search through the second hand stores yard sales and every bargain bin I find. I also find treasures in packing boxes and food containers i.e. box's from cereal, potatoes side and yes even spam cans.

My latest find is battery box's yep that right battery box's. when the manufacture ships they ship them in little box's so the cards the are displayed on do not get bent. While at work I spied one of these little gems...and yes I brought it home and "up_cycled it..

But the problem is getting the right picture for the projects. I make LO after LO but I So I am going to do a new album just about me and what I see in my world. So I will not be challenged to take the best pictures to go on my LO's because with out my glasses I am blind...lol OK back to reality I am off on a photo hunt...the next few weeks will be that of looking for spring, my brain says spring is on it way and I will find it. I will take the next 6 months and build this album. as I finish each LO I will share it. Maybe you can try something similar. I would love to hear about what you did I will even give you space on my blog to tell the story if you do not have a blog or I will like to your blog. I hope you except the challenge and tell the world how you see it the next 6 month. P.S. Lets not focus on the economy, focus on our the world around you the changing season, blooming flowers, spring rains or as in my case the spring snow showers.

So if you except the challenge let make an album with no people in it except yourself of course.

I tought a class for a MOP's Group

I was asked to teach a class on the upcycled Mini albums I make to a mops group. When I arrived the speaker was still talking so I quietly unloaded my car and placed all my supplies in the hall way, I then went out to move my car not knowing I had hit the lock on the door...When I tried to get back in to my surprised the door was locked... Oh boy now what the sun is shining it is an absolutely beautiful day but the tempature is about 10 degrees so sitting out side waiting for someone to let me in is not an option. I walked around the building and found a group of ladies taking care of a room full of kids and they let me take to stairs up into the church. Thank goodness cause it was truly cold. When The ladies seen me in the hall they sent a gal out to invite me in. after about 30 minutes a different lady came over introduced herself and explained that the speaker was not finished and asked if I could wait I said no problem. I listened to the gal and she had some great advice I could of used 20 years ago when my kids where little would of been less traumatic then the duck tape and super glue, but that's another story. The speaker finally quits talking and I was introduced but told there is only 20 min left. So I went thru my hole talk on upcycling and how I am a hoarder and I use my scraps as well as food containers to make gifts. I dumped on a table a large bag of scraps gave every on a 4 x 7 pieces of light duty cardboard like you find when you get clothes from the store. I had them cover the cardboard and flood it making a book. then showed them how to use the scraps to make a embellishment. it was fast but fun. I was at fist not happy because I wanted to teach them to make mini albums and sell the product I had brought. But I was asked to do a more advanced class for the ladies night coming up when the ladies will have time to do nothing but eat and craft. I was then given a Thank You card made by one of the ladies with a check for their appreciation. So any and all of you ladies liking for feel good moment I encourage you to volunteer to teach a group. fill a bag with the scraps and papers you don't want and let your "trash" be someone else treasures. you may walk away with a new friend or even more opportunities... I believe that is the window we all keep looking for.

P.S. I will also be teaching speaking to a different church group about the importance of archiving family memories and teach two smaller classes.

my favorite items to upcycle is light duty cardboard/chipboard from packing material. I love to make albums, box's and cards. I see so much going to the land fill and I wonder why more people don't use this readily available item for more craft projects.

Below are some thank you card I made out of some dividers out of some paint can shipping box's.

I challenge you to make something out of that cereal box you threw away or the Kleenex box. They make awesome albums, and gift box's I will be posting a new set of albums made from a class I am teaching tomorrow morning. Stay tuned.

Glitter......

I was just sitting here thinking how much glitter is to much. A sprinkle here a sprinkle there. Adds a lot of blink to a layout, but then it happens you stand up and it starts to snow pretty shiny glittery snow... Hmmm I think I used to much glitter... I then start to notice the black dog that sleep under my feet has a golden shimmer...I proceed to head to the other room to tell my husband how the dog acquired his new shiny coat. When I entered the room he started to laugh and told me I looked like a Christmas ornament.... I went and looked in the mirror and he was right... From my red fleece PJ bottoms to my forehead I was glimmering... I have to admit it was funny but there has to be a better way to get the effect I want... I love Stickles but it is to concentrated... Any one know how to bling fine glitter and not wear it??

A Sunday Challenge

My world is changing, I am taking a job working the night shift (10pm - 7 am)So to get ready I have been staying up later and later each day since Thursday last night I stayed up way late (5:30 am) to get ready for this transition. In my delirium I came up with a fun new challenge.

My challenge is to look thru the pile of leftovers and Choose 2 papers left from two different projects the trick is to say those don't match. then I want you to make a LO using these 2 papers no other papers allowed. Use your embellishments, ribbon and what ever else is in the pile from the original projects to make combo work. You can use scraps to make some of the new style circle flowers, but you can not just glue circles, squares strips or other shapes that have not been altered or worked in to embellishments of some type.

you will need a full sheet left from one project and a scrap that can be trimmed to at least 8 x 8. then I want you to take the handful of embellishment left from both projects and supplement with what ever you find and make this combo work.

as you see I used...a pastel light greens,soft golds and white, with and antique weathered paper with reds browns and tan papers. It was almost like June cleaver meets Tim Holtz.

I have a nice Prize form Little Yellow Bicycle boy stuff for this challenge. Post to this thread with a link to the page you created also you will get 1 extra vote for every friend you send and they mention your name. I will have my 3 yr old grandson draw one name.

Part Two Simple Treasures

My treasure sat on my table all day and I just stared at it then at 11:02 pm I was inspired. My Second hand store find will soon look like something form a high dollar import store. LOL!!

Here is what I have been doing in step two. I took one sheet of 8 x 8 paper, some color box dark brown ink and came up with is... (picture is way dark but I will shoot it again in the day light.)

not sure of the embellishments yet that will come in time. If you have not seen the first post scroll down you will see the box in it original state.

A Simple Treasure

I am a second hand store junkie. I do not buy a lot of stuff from them but I do go on treasure hunts from time to time. This last we I spotted a new store that had opened on my way to work. I made a point to stop after work and look around. My excitement gave way to the realization that this was not a crafters haven it was indeed just another store fill with used clothes, dishes and furniture which I am not in need of. So I was making my way to the door and there it was... Like destiny my prize. So I pulled my wallet out and it was empty... I asked if they took debit cards and the gal said no... I was so bummed... I left the store and went home. I knew I had to have my treasure so before I headed to work the next morning I borrowed my husbands car washing funds. I went to the store and it was still there... If you have ever seen Finding Nemo.. you will know what I was saying... Mine Mine Mine...LOL!! I plucked my prize from it's perch and paid for it. So now the fun begins...

I brought my prize home and sanded it down and removed the rose knobs..

Yes a empty pallet, how inviting.

But that leaves the rose knobs what do I do with them they are very small but on the same hand very pretty.

So I slept on it and decided to give them as a prize I will give them to one person who posts on this thread. So if you want a set of 4 mini porcelain rose knobs for a project, and a yummy little RAK, and we ain't talk' food...hehehehe! Post here.

The RAK keep growing as I have been slowly sorting to do a project I am finding more and more to add.

Wow, it is a beautiful Day

The sun is shining, I am going for my third interview to get my job back. Life at this time is good for me. I know it is so unfair that so many are suffering and I am walking on clouds but I have been on both sides of that coin and all I can say is look to the positive and believe. Some good will come and we will all be happy again. We may never see the same life style but we will be alive and have a home and our basic needs met.

I wanted to share something pretty today. I found this in the Paper Craft magazine a while back and had to wait to down load the pattern.

It is a dress card so simple and so elegant. You can make these with scrap paper and real make someones day. With Easter coming I am going to do a mass production for our local nursing home. If any of you want to join me and send in a card just email me at auntieem@suddenlink.net and in the subject line put Easter card. I will send you the snail mail address.

The card is designed by Alisa Bangerter, and the paper I used was left over from last easter, from Imaginisce spring fling line. I still need to add the collar whick you will see when you open the PDF. Before I can I have to do a Drive By punching on my way to work... (ok that means stop use a friends punch and run off to work...lol!)

I kept mine simple because I like the look.

I know I for one think it is fun to celebrate the holiday, but not as a max your credit card to empress the Jone's holiday. I never liked diamonds and I have enough love handles for three people so chocolate is not my gift of choice. Me and my Husband who have shared 25 Valentines days together This year seem to like the same things a nice home cooked meal and a quite night to just be together talking about the past, planning the future and just enjoying the companionship we grown used to over the years.

Typically I buy my husband some small gift or a card he makes a fuss because he forgot, I forgive him and all is well. But today he took our daughter to work and came home with a surprise. A red rose, I was surprised and my face must have told the story because he held it out and said it is all I have do you still love me, and I said yeppers!!

" Since I have mainly been doing digital scrapbooking lately, the time has come for me to purge my paper supplies. So I am going to offer a little contest for you. Febraury 8th

Wow what a beautiful season we have had, the whole area has transformed in to a winter paradise, with photo opportunity at every turn. I am going to share some of my favorite pictures I took in January and early February.

It all starts with the road home, my favorite road in the whole wide world after we get a snow storm and I have to drive to and from work. So it's a sight for sore eyes at the end of my journey.

The next three were take at our friends house we went up for Dinner New Years eve and It was just spectacular, the fresh fallen snow had blanketed everything, it was amazing.

This is the same shot but it started to snow heavy so it looked so cool.

We went back to Tony and Mel's the next morning for breakfast. This is our the hostess Mel with her quiche. Mmm it was awesome!!

A week later I caught the light at the right moment, the trees is stark against the blue sky at sun set, and the pink in the clouds just made an awesome contrast to winter.

Because it is so cold this time of year I hold up in my craft room, creating things I deam wonderful.

Lately I have been making ATC's and they are time consuming but an awesome relief to the boredom of winter. Below is one I am currently working on you will see all the little pieces laying with in on the table.

and more mess from my creation, along with an ATC from a first name trade.

Next is a night light I made it hold a stick and click light and casts a nice pattern on the ceiling.

The top is made from a felt coaster I found at Micheal's. The box from some close out paper I found at a discount store. What a fun project. My buttons well I just collect them every where I find them.

Some Eye Candy

As you seen below I was and still am in love with the AC Bailey Designs, February Kit of the Month. The Basic Grey Bittersweet is anything but bitter. I have been busy making what ever I could from this kit and I am going to share it with you... Below are two box's I made from the kit

one holds a two sided mini album I also left enough space that you can put a small flat chocolate heart in the box with the album.

I also made some cards which my youngest daughter made off with she love pink and brown.

Last but not least I made this layout of my daughter she is so much fun at time.
Yes she took my bowl also.

She explained it was old and I have so many bowls I needed to give her one...but she did not tell me my favorite metal bowl was to feed her dog...Kids.

AC Bailey Designs has Just released it sneak Peak for the February Kit of the month. I have to say I am in "LOVE". This kit live up to my expectation. February being the month of love and all that fun stuff, I would expect to see some vintage paper that scream the word "LOVE" and AC Bailey Designs came thru again!! Wow what a year 2008 was, let look at a few good thing... Scrapbooking is still the most awesome hobby ever.

Last Year the economy had a few mountains throw in the road, but I see that America will be ok. We will adjust just as we always do and we will go on to better things.

I have been planning big things this year a few class's and a retreat!! in Kellogg Idaho. check it outSilver Valley Scrapbook Retreat It will be me and two other consultants So we will have a lot of fun, good food, crops and a drawings... I can't wait!!

I have also been laying low working on some scrapbook projects and a scraplift and a valentines ATC trade.... I will get my projects posted as soon as the sun comes out since it has snowed almost everyday since what seems to be the beggining of time... we are expecting the sun to make an apperaence tomorrow, YEA!!

Ok I must be off for now I am checking out a new board I submitted for a DT Call they put out and now I wait, Talk about a fun.. I love being a DT at AC Bailey so I am hoping, these gal love my work also. I will keep you informed..

Secret Santa

Some times the mail runs slow...and other times it just comes to a complete stop. Well this was one of those complete stop years. So one of my secret Santa gifts was late.... But I was realy happy to get it late cause with all the rain and snow a scrappy mail day makes for a happy day!!

I survived Christmas with the flu... it was not how I expected to spend Christmas, but we don't always get what we want.

I did put up a cute little tree and I wanted to share it with you all. The idea came to me long before Thankgiving. I decided to host a Christmas ATC swap on a board I frequent and it was a blast. My plan was to use the ATC's to decorate my tree it was so cool to do this. It was like a tree of cards all for me...or so I thought.

I will start at the top. Somewhere along the way I ended up with the little homemade santa I used for a tree topper.

I then added white lights and all the ATC's I recieved from the swap it is so cool.

I also had a special ornament sent to me by my secret santa form the ACB boards.

I finished it all off buy adding the homemade card I recieved from all my friends at the forums I visit and buy hanging the two ornaments my oldest grandaughter bought us the green says "I love grandpa" and the purple says "I love grandma" they are to percious!!

Well it finally got here the snow of 2008 and it was a record breaker.. dropping 24" in Silverton in 24 hours. We were lucky some places recieved 30" plus. Below is a page I did to comemorate this it was worthy of a page all it's own.

This Layout was a challenge form All Moments Remembered. It had to be a winter layout but not christmas. I would like to extend to you an invite to come Join the forum At All Moments Remembered. Miss Stacy has set up a nice place to hang out and visit. Hope to see you there.

Ok I won't tel you that I made this card on accident because I don't believe in accidents. I think God new you need some more Christmas cheer so here it is.

I made this card out of the ACB Kit of The Month for a design team project but after I finished my card I found out the card I need is not a christmas card so my work was not to be displayed so I will give it to you all!

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed making it.

Wow it's December!!

Ok who turned the page on the calander... I swear I went to bed Thanksgiving night and the rest has been a blur. I am getting some projects completed but I am also falling behind by the day.

I decided to make you all a Christmas Card. The paper is from the December Kit of The Month from AC Bailey. I also used glue dots to hold the poinsetta in place. I used a brad from the as the cent of the flower, silver and diamond stickles to give it the bling effect and some small holiday stamp with Powder Puff Mocha Mania ink . The Black card stock I found just laying around in my very very messy craft room.

Now that we cover the out side of the card, my sentament to you all is "I hope you all have enough, give enough and find peace in the new year. Remember we all have flaws and sometimes the flaws are what make us perfect. Last but not least this season was found on the values of one man and this has not changed. Jesus is still and always will be the reason for the season".

Sorry I have not Posted...

Sorry for the delay in posting life just got way to busy for me...But I am back and ready to fill you in on what I have been doing. Like I said in my last post I did a craft show for two days had a blast. I did take pictures of my table for you all. Here is my booth.

I have been very busy with my new job the hours are demanding but that is ok I am just happy to have a job with the unemployment at 11% in our area I was lucky. The company I work for has just set a hiring freeze, and it was the only company hiring in the valley at this time.

I have worked on some Technique while I was not posting here. I have been working on distressing and loving it what a way to get the agression out and have something nice to show for it. Here is a page I am working on for Christmas. this is just a sneak peak I will post this again after I finish it. This page I cut my Bazzill to 8.5" x 11.0" and printed the word from The Night Before Christmas on the paper then I destressed it. I can't wait to see our family photo mounted on this page.

I also finished a page of my oldest daughter. It was a challenge on the AC Bailey Designs Forum. It was a fun but simple page. Sometimes simple scrapbooking is the best medicine for me.

I have also been making christmas cards. I look all over the blogs and internet find what I like and make it my way. Here are a few examples. By the way we call this scraplifting, and it is ok. Most of us think it an honor to have someone impressed enought with our work to copy it.

I cut the trees from a sticker from the Bo Bunny Believe set, the paper was also from the sey The ribbon is the Bo Bunny double Dot ribbon. The noel is stamped on three cream colored cloth buttons and the rings holding the ribbon is from a very old bad pair of earing from muy day of Cindi Lauper and Boy George.

This is a 5" x 5" Card cut from French Vanilla Bazzill I inked it and used baby wipes to smear the ink then reinked and resmeared I then added. The three small snow flakes are from a package of confetti I bought last year I inked them blue and placed Ice Blue Rhinestones in the center, I then covered a white snow Flake Ornament with silver Stickles and allowed it to dry. After it dried I inked it with The Blue Hawaiian Powder Puff ink. I used glue dots to adhere it to the card making sure to roll under any that could be seen.

This was a fun scrap lift, it is some what a hybred.. I could not find the paper I was looking for so I designed my own using the same colors I made 1 - 8.5 x 11.0 sheet of each stripe and dots. I the cut the striped paper to 3" x 6" strips. The Dot paper is cut to 1" x 6" strips. I then used decorative sicissors to trim the edge. I adhered them together with two way tape. The red paper in the center is cut 2" x 4.5" and adhere to the striped paper. The star I cut with my Cricut useing The George and Basic Shapes Cartridge. The tree is a 3" long triangle I cut in three pieces and used green stickles to go around the edges allow it to dye them I adhered it with two way tape. The tree trunk is a small piece of brown scrap card stock. And the whole card was made complete with a Button at the top of the tree. The base card measures 4.5"X 6.5". I had to make an envolope to fit the card.

This card was fun it is a 5" x 6" card cut from a piece of Bazzill I printed the words merry Christmas on a piece of French Vanilla Brazzil cut it to 4.5" x 5.5" adhere it to the card. I then printed the design on a piece of Vellum cut to size and using adhesive tape made for vellum I finished the card.

The Craft Show

Was so much fun. I talked to so many scrapper like myself, it seems we are all looking for the same things; to learn new techniques, to be with friends, to have more tools and not end up in the poor farm doing what we love. I will have to admit that is a challenge for every scrapper and consultant I know. I have used a lot of money saving short cuts that I plan to share with my groups. I plan to post our class info and Ideas on this blog as time goes on and you all are welcome to use my ideas and share them. If I can help one person do what they love with out having to give up something eles I will do this. I will be posting the Craft Show picture of my booth tomorrow.

and in the next few days I will be posting my class scheduals and ideas. So come back often.

Off to the Craft Fair...

After many years of going to craft fairs and oogleing over all the nice things I can't have it is my turn. I have spent almost 14 hours a day for about 2 months making lil' pretties to sell at the local craft show. I will also try to sell my products. I have designed my own lable and made sure every thing is stamped or packaged with my contact info. Yes I am as ready as I can be at this time.

The only thing wearing on me if fatigue. I started a new job this last week while finishing up the show details so I am double wiped out.

I am hoping to start a hostess of the month club. where 8 ladies agree to buy $25.00 worth of scrap supplies a month for 8 months each month one of the 8 ladies will be the hostess and get the rewards. At the end of the 8 months we will all be intitled to a $25.00 gift cretificate to use on more supplies. That is a total of approx $50.00 worth of merchandice in 8 months. I also want to teach classes on paper crafting.

I will post here after the show on Sunday how everything went.

A New Day a New Layout

I have to say my style is evolving on a daily basis. I have enjoyed scrapbookin’ since the day I started just over a year ago. I find my greatest teacher is the challenges from the forums I visit. Some come with small RAK’s (random act of kindness) some come with praise and encouragement either way I have enjoyed trying something new. My latest challenge took me way out of my comfort zone in to the land of distressing. I have to admit if you told me 6 months ago I would pay good money for paper then turn around and trash it I would of laughed at you. So last night as I crumpled, sanded and tore up paper adding ink to age it I was not at ease. After I was done looking at the pile of trashed paper, I knew there was no going back so I grabbed the adhesives and inks and went to work...building from the center out adding color as I needed. I came up with what I am calling “Welcome Fall” and to me it fits the title. Here is my creation...tell me what you think. Leave your comment below.

Another great Idaea...

As I was looking thru the Forum at ACB I noticed that Miss Becky posted the next challenge on the Consultants forum... and this was not a lay out challenge. I was ready for something different, so I went to work pacing and thinking. I even posted on the board that she had put up this great challenge and I was going to have to do it. I did however add some spice since the day before I had collected some color chips from the local Wally-World I told every one I was going to make my project out of paint chips since I did not have time to shop for bazzill. I was hoping for some crazy comments but only Miss becky replied...hehehehe. Ok lets get back to the project. I paced and paced not knowing what I wanted to make then I finally gave up sat down and grab a hand full of paper and it hit me how about a book on what we are thankful for. I started to cut my 12 x 12 sheets in to 6 x 12 and I then had an even greater Idea not only would I supply a page for each person to write I would allow a corresponding page for a photo of the person and some small embellishments. So with the cutter smoking and my brain processing at the speed of light..I was in my element...

Hello Everyone!!

I have to admit I am having fun today...doing nothing but reading on the computer...I had planned to go out and take some nice sunny day fall pictures but I am to late it is raining...but living in North Idaho I kinda get used to the weather this time a year...they say it will be in the 60's tomorrow but we will see...the weather here does not follow the rules. So we adapt, we run snow tires from Oct to April and yes the flip flops well they are in a tote some where as are the shorts tank top and other summer item. I know am doning full zip hoodies, sweater and sweat shirts as my new seasonal wardrobe...and I have to admit they are more comfy that the all to reveiling T-shirt...LOL.. hide them love handles.

Anyway Fall is in full boom so to say the colors are awsome I will try to get some cool rainy day pic's to show you when I go to the PO to check the mail.

So while I'm gone enjoy a warm cup of soup and some crackers....It is comfort food season!

My favorite line from Horton Here’s A Who. Yes I am still here I have not posted all week but I am here...Been getting ready for a Craft show, and let me tell you my mind is tired.
I love to create, design and just plain make pretty stuff so I decided to make something's to sell as well as my AC Bailey Catalog sales. I started off small and now I have run a muck.
I am re-designing clothes pins that hold calendars, recipe cards or your photo’s, well then I have to put something in the clothes pins so I am making recipe and cards calendars. Sound easy but the designing each month and the back ground is my challenge...I am good at graphics, but I am Sooooo picky.

Any how to make a long story short, I have trashed my room, lost my mind and can’t remember when I had more than 5 hours sleep. But I think this will go well, my mind races all night with new Things I am going to design and make for the show it is a blast.

I will be posting some of my Pretties as I complete projects….So check back.

Now thats a challenge....I have dodged this bullet and scrapped so much about others. Do you ever realy scrap you, not your love for a person or your child. I mean real scrap you, you emotions, and the thing you hide. I was Challenged to do this. So I came up with this page Called Just {Me}. This is one of those pages you will hand down to your family, it will give them insite on who you were. I challenge you to do this for your family look deep and leave a page so they can know YOU. It's not as hard as it sounds.

Octoberfest..Scrapin' Style

You all know I was given a postion as a DT at AC Bailey Designs. Well we needed to have some fun....So Dee a real nice gal that has some awesome ideas came up with OctoberFest Scrapboonin' style. Then she got dizzy from all the crative things running thru her brain, so she went to the doctor and Gail put the whole plan to work...Me being the over achiver I am said Me! Me! Me! I will do the first layout...well three concepts later I can up with a page I am willing to post as the concept for the first week. This week it is all about song...can't celebrate with out music so I did a scrapbook page and the title of the page had to be the title of a song...Here is my page...I hope Shayden does not hate me for this later in life.

A New Day A New Adventure

It has been like Christmas at my house the last 10 days, from a pay it forward trades to getting my first DT kit and an order from AC Bailey Designs, and I know there will be more the next few days. So I am like a kid in a candy shop who know the postman will ring three more times.

Anyway I opened my two box's from AC Bailey Designs and found in my DT kit a bottle of Ranger Crackle Paint and in the second box a Bottle of clear accents (which smell yummy). As I was reading the instruction a lil' light went off in my head and I remembered Tim Holt on QVC last week demoin' the clear accents so I grabbed both bottles some acrylic paint (tomato Red) and a flourish clear stamp my three old stamp pads (black, brown and bronze).

I base coated a piece of naked chip board with the tomato red paint, let it dry. Then I added a good coat of the green Ranger Crackle Paint let it dry and crack nicely. I then grabbed all three old ink pads starting with the bronze then brown and last black ink I layered all three ink on the stamp which gives it a faded look. I let that dry. I then used my dauber to distress the edges and the top of the piece with the brown ink and bronze ink, let this dry. I then applied the Ranger Clear Accent and allowed it to dry for an hour or so and now I have a cool old looking coated embellishment. One piece of add vice do not shake the Clear Accent and Let you pint and ink dry several hour before applying the Clear Accent. My project bubbled because the moisture could not escape.

Fall is in the air

I have fallin’ in to fall with a borage of paper craftin’.My favorite at this time has been the ATC trades I have been making them and loving the fun. Since I am new at this I have not realy gotten real fancy as of yet. Here are some of first ATC.

I have also been working on a layout of me which I have not done as of yet...this was so much fun. I did a fall theme since the colors are changing and I have to thank Craftyria from the AMR forum for the RAC of paper that allowed me to do this awsome layout.

The last fall project was to answer a challenge to mail out cards for a National Card making day. I again had fall on the brain so I grabbed some paper cut some tags and cards and played with the old acrylic paint and the hot glue gun. I then grab a ball of hemp sting that has been hiding in the closet. I still needed something, so I went to the front your grabed a small hand full of stringy twigs that fall off my weeping birch cut it up tired it with the hemp and it was a nice finish to my cards.

This card was made for a Fall challenge. I love the colors and the fibers were a Pay it Forward trade for the AMR board...Thanks Melon Scraps.

Christmas in September, and on a Budget.

Oh Ya Christmas all year long for this gal. I made some cards for a Challenge on the All Moments Remembered Board. This was a blast and a welcome change from the typical LO i have been doing. Miss Sandy called it her 5 challange you must have 5 of any thing on the front of the card and the card stock did not count. I of course used a blank Card purchased at Micheals, then glued to the front of the card a photo mat from Creative Memories and trimmed it to fit them I took a seconc mat and cut a border with my cricut. I then dug out the gift tags I bought on clearence to make this years card, I did see these cards at Micheals for $1.99. I am a frugil shopper so I did not buy them. After christmas I found them for a dime a package and bought all they had. And wha-LA My cards are starting to take shape.

Don't be afraid to dig thru last years christmas box and get out the left over ribbon some gift tags and try your hand at making cards they are so simple and making them can save you a ton of money. Like I said in the begining I am about recyle and reuse....it will make our world a better place in the long run.

A Challenge, Make a page to honor a mircle in your life

This layout was inspired over the course of the last year.

I have to tell you that in August of last year I had two very dear friends Both named Debbie we were Girl Scout laeder togeter. WE spent a lot of time together planning events and so. Debbie W. I knew for over 9 years I absolutley love her daughters as if they are mine I have watched them grow and I am proud to have them call me Aunt Emma. Debbie P I have know for 4 years, she taught me so much about paitence and nurturing a childs dream with out inserting my ideals. Mid Sept of last year I got a call from Debbie P. she had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She was to under go a mastectomy. Her surgery went well and she was soon released to go home a week later I made plans to take her to lunch. Before the lunch date arrived Debbie P called and told me they had done a cat scan and found some spots on her liver. This took the wind out of my sails so to speak. Being involved in the medical field for years I knew Liver cancer is usually termanal, very few people survive this ordeal. I put my best foot forward and was getting ready to take debbie P to lunch when my phone rang. It was Debbie W's mother-in-law she said "Emma You might want to sit down" I asked what was wrong and she got all choked up, she was able to get out it was about Debbie W. I began to say is she ok and I was told no she was in a diabetic comma and was not expected to make it. She asked me to come to the hospital. I called Debbie P and told her I had to make a stop at the hospital, Debbie W was sick. We agreed she would eat then we would go out for cheese cake later. At the hospital I said my goodbye to Debbie W as I felt my ship had just sank. I found a quite corner cryed and prayed for her girls. I left the hospital to take Debbie P to get cheese cake and being the trooper she always is she cheered me up and gave me some good advise.I have spent many hours asking God why he would take both my friends away and praying for him to heal Debbie P.Well about a week ago I got a call from Debbie P. and the spots on her liver are gone and she is expected to live a long long time.so I made this page to celebrate.
